The need to maintain and upgrade Texas’ water infrastructure continues to grow, as roughly 1,300 people are moving into our state every day.
For this session, the TWDB’s seven legislative recommendations and 13 exceptional item requests will help the agency fulfill its mission of ensuring a secure water future for Texas.
Legislative recommendations include:
- Long-Term Sustainable Financing
- Capitalization Grant Matching Funds for the State’s DWSRF & CWSRF
- Agricultural Water Conservation Fund
- Groundwater Data Collection and Analysis
- Surface Water Data Collection and Analysis
- TexMesonet Coverage
Other recommendations include amending statutes to correctly define the definition of “rural political subdivision,” align planning rule review cycles, clarify groundwater management plan inclusions, update State Water Implementation Fund for Texas (SWIFT) program reporting requirements, and specify TWDB review and approval of donations of groundwater rights to the Texas Water Trust.
