The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) met on February 4 to take up a full agenda and approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $11,420,000 from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the City of San Juan (Hidalgo County).

  • The funding will involve the planning, design, construction of, and improvements to the water and sewer systems damaged by Hurricane Harvey.
  • Staff recommends extending the commitments to March 31, 2019 to enable the Corporation to close on both commitments.

Consider approving by resolution a request from the City of Del Rio (Val Verde County) to amend Texas Water Development Board Resolution Nos. 18-019, 18-020, and 18-021 to convert the existing Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and Clean Water State Revolving Fund commitments to multi-year commitments and extend the expiration date for the initial series to May 2019.   • San Juan is requesting funding for two projects
  • The first is to improve several lift stations throughout the city to alleviate sewage capacity problems.
    • In 2012, the city received funding for the planning and design of this project.
  • The second project is connected to the city’s 2018 project on their waste water treatment plant.
    • The current requested amount will allow the City to correct violations included in last year’s plant inspection and report by the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality.
