Texas State Senator Mayes Middleton has announced his candidacy for Texas Attorney General. Middleton has pinned the following post to his social media account, “I’m proud to announce my campaign for Texas Attorney General. There’s only one Texas, and I’ve devoted my life to defending it. As your next Attorney General, I will work to ensure Texas is the greatest and safest state to live and raise a family.”

In his statement on why he is running, Middleton responds, “I am running for Texas Attorney General to continue the fight for our shared conservative values that keep the Texas Miracle alive,” Middleton said. “As Attorney General, I will join President Trump in his efforts to return America and Texas to common sense and to fight to secure the border, ensure law and order, and be tough on crime. So goes Texas, so goes America. There isn’t another Texas to move to, and I will work to ensure Texas is the safest state to live and raise a family.”

Attorney General Ken Paxton has made a decision to run next year for U.S. Senate against incumbent Sen. John Cornyn leaving the AG seat open.
