On April 1, HillCo Partners published this statement from House Public Education Committee Chair Brad Buckley. Buckley notified the committee of his intent to reschedule the meeting from earlier this week to meet on Thursday, April 3rd formally after the members had time to review the district runs and the committee substitute. The notice has been posted and the committee intends to take up the following bills in a formal hearing upon adjournment or bill referral if permission is granted:
- HB 2 (Buckley) Relating to public education and public school finance.
- SB 2 (Creighton) Relating to the establishment of an education savings account program.
Formal meetings are not usually broadcast and the committee office stated they did not intend to live broadcast this formal hearing through the House site. However, CBS news did record the proceedings which can be located here.
Both substitutions of the bills were voted out; HB 2 (13-2) and SB 2 (9-6). They will now move to the full body for further deliberation.
