Today marked the 60th day of the 87th Legislative Session. It was also the deadline for filing bills and joint resolutions other than local bills, emergency appropriations, and bills that have been declared an emergency by the governor.
As of this evening, the preliminary information on Texas Legislature Online (TLO) shows there were fewer bills filed this session than the previous with a total of 4566 House Bills and 2136 Senate Bills filed for a grand total of 6702 HBs & SBs.
Today alone the preliminary totals show 981 bills were filed.
For comparison, during the 86th (R) on the 60th day at the same time, the preliminary information showed: 4,627 House Bills and 2,435 Senate Bills filed for a grand total of 7,062 HBs & SBs* and on the bill filing day a total of 839 bills were filed.
*Note the final totals were larger for the 86th Regular Session with 4,765 House Bills filed and 2,559 Senate Bills filed for a total of 7,324 House and Senate Bills filed.
