Tomorrow the House will take up HB 1818 (Gonzales), which is the Sunset bill for the Railroad Commission. Amendments for this legislation have already been pre-filed.

The House will reconvene tomorrow at 10:00 am. 
 
Tomorrow in the Senate the committee substitute for SB 1 (Nelson), also known as the general appropriations bill, will be taken up and voted out of the Senate where it will then move over to the House for further consideration – House Appropriations has posted the budget bill and the supplemental bill on their March 29 and/or March 30 calendar.    

Also on the Senate 3/28 Calendar is SB 407 (Watson) relating to the exception from disclosure under the public information law for information related to competition and bidding & SB 408 (Watson) relating to the definition of a governmental body for the purposes of the public information law. 

The Senate will reconvene tomorrow at 11:00 am.

Spotlight – Today in the 85th

SB 5 (Huffman), relating to voter ID, as substituted with two adopted floor amendments was passed to third reading in the Senate with 21 ayes and 10 nays.  
 
SB 23 (Schwertner), relating to E-verify, was passed to third reading in the Senate as substituted with one adopted floor amendment with 23 ayes and 8 nays.  
 
SB 533 (Nelson), relating to state contracting, was voted favorably out of the Senate Finance Commitee on 3/27 as substituted.
 
CSHB 21 (Huberty), public school finance, was published along with model runs for 2018 and 2019. The bill will be taken up in the House Commitee on Public Education on 3/28.
