State Rep. Dennis Bonnen (R–Angleton) earlier today stated he has the support of 109 of his colleagues (that list was released this afternoon) pledging to vote for him to be House Speaker when lawmakers come back for session on January 8. The lower chamber requires a candidate to have 76 votes to be selected as House Speaker. “The Speaker’s race is over, and the House is ready to work,” Bonnen said during his brief press conference.
