Commissioner-elect George P. Bush has announced an addition to the office of the General Counsel at the Texas General Land Office. Former Texas State Representative and experienced trial attorney Aaron Peña, Jr. will serve as the Director of Litigation in the office of the General Counsel.
 
Peña was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in November of 2002. He served five terms including being appointed as Chairman of House Committee of Criminal Jurisprudence. His legislative priorities included public school education and improved healthcare facilities in his Hildalgo-based district and across the state.
 
Larry L. Laine will remain with the Texas General Land Office as Chief Clerk. Laine has served in this role for more than a decade and has served for more than 22 years in state government.
 
Prior to being sworn in as Chief Clerk for the General Land Office in 2003, Laine served as Legislative Director for the Comptroller of Public Accounts. His prior professional experience includes service on political campaigns, as a staff member in the Texas Legislature and as a private contractor specializing in real estate and property management.
 
Joey Longley will assume the role of Director of Program Management in the office of the Texas General Land Office (GLO). This position will oversee the Disaster Recovery, Construction Services, Archives, Real Estate Services and Coastal Resources divisions.
 
Longley has more than 34 years of experience in improving Texas state government operations. He served for three decades working for the Texas Legislature in the Texas Sunset Commission, 14 of those years as agency director.
