The U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals has allowed Texas to enforce provisions of the bill requiring local governments to comply with federal immigration detainer requests. Previously, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas issued a preliminary injunction halting enforcement of the requirement to comply with detainers and other parts of SB 4 pending resolution to legal challenges brought against it. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton commended the 5th Circuit decision in a press release hosted here.
