Wichita Falls Superintendent Michael S. Kuhrt was featured in AASA’s School Administrator publication this month, which highlighted his involvement in their early learning cohort. He notes that “One group of students begins the race that we call school positioned at the starting line, ready to learn and thrive, while the other group starts far behind its peers and spends the entire race playing catch up.” Wichita Falls ISD supports its diverse population of early learners through a combination of on-campus PreK and Head Start programs, a dedicated PreK campus, and a Parents as Teachers program to support parents and children in their homes.
