David Swinford’s seat in HD 87 may remain empty for four months. Swinford who recently resigned asked the Governor to call a special election to fill his unexpired term on the same day as the general election. But August 24th was the last day to put the seat on the November ballot, even in a special election. It has been reported that Gov. Rick Perry is not likely to call a special election unless there is an emergency. The candidates running for Swinford’s seat in general election:  Republican Four Price, Democrat Abel Bosquez, and Libertarian James Hudspeth.

Carl Isett, HD 84, resigned earlier this summer before the August 24th date.  A special election has been called for his seat and will be held on November 2nd. Republican John Frullo and Democrat Carol Morgan will be on the special election ballot to fill the reminder of Isett’s term. In addition, they are both on the general election ballot for a full two-year term for the HD 84 seat.
