The House Investigative Committee on the Robb Elementary Shooting met on July 11 to hear from witnesses in closed session. The report below covers the brief comments made by Chair Burrows before and after the closed session testimony.

Opening Comments by Chair Burrows

  • Have Interviewed over 40 witnesses and listened to other audio files and more prior to this meeting
  • Will be interviewing witnesses in executive session; will include consist of people from the ALLERT Center, DPS, and the Sheriff of Uvalde
  • Another subcommittee will interview these witnesses as well
  • Always needs to be a balance between getting the information out to the families of the Uvalde tragedy and being thorough and accurate
  • Requested that a part of the committee report have a video attached to it made public of the hallway footage of the Robb Elementary school shooting with no graphic images but just footage of the shooter entering a room and right before that room is breached
  • Chair Burrows moves that the minutes from June 16th, 2022 committee hearing for the House Investigative Committee be corrected, passes

  • No actions taken during executive session; will be rolling out plan for next meetings within the next couple of days, most of the interviews have been completed
