House

The House gaveled in this afternoon shortly after 4p and a motion was made and adopted to send the sergeant of arms for all absentees for the purposes of maintaining attendance (80-12). The House will stand at ease until Wednesday, August 11th at 10:00 a.m.

Senate

The Senate gaveled in at 3 p.m. today and took up four Senate Bills and Joint Resolutions. The Senate also recessed briefly to allow Senate State Affairs to meet and vote out SB 5.

SB 2 (Perry) relating to requiring public school students to compete in interscholastic athletic competitions based on biological sex was passed to engrossment (19-10).

SB 4 (Lucio) relating to abortion complication reporting and the regulation of drug-induced abortion procedures, providers, and facilities was passed to engrossment (19-10)

SJR 2 (Bettencourt) enabling legislation for SB 12 proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing the legislature to reduce a limitation on the total amount of certain ad valorem taxes for residence homesteads of those who are elderly or disabled was finally passed (29-0).

SB 9 (Huffman) Relating to requiring public schools to provide instruction and materials and adopt policies relating to the prevention of child abuse, family violence, and dating violence was finally passed (28-1).

Additionally, the Senate suspended rules so the Senate Nominations Committee could meet on Wednesday morning at 8:00 a.m.
