Conference Committee Update
The SB 1 Conferees met on April 24 for an organizational hearing and received a brief update from the Legislative Budget Board.

  • House conferees Reps.: John Zerwas (R-Richmond)-chair, Oscar Longoria (D-Mission), Trent Ashby (R-Lufkin), Sarah Davis (R-West University Place), Larry Gonzales (R-Round Rock).
  • Senate conferees Sens.: Jane Nelson (R- Flower Mound) Chair, Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa (D- McAllen), Joan Huffman (R-Houston), Charles Schwertner (R- Georgetown), and Lois Kolkhorst (R- Brenham).

Spotlight of Bills on the Move
SCR 24 (Perry), urging the United States Congress to continue joint federal-state funding of Texas Medicaid while transferring administration of the program to the Texas Legislature, was voted out of the Senate (21-9) on 4/24.  The bill will now move over to the House for further consideration.
 
SB 715 (Campbell), relating to municipal annexation, was passed out of the Senate (20-10) on 4/24 as substituted and with three adopted amendments. The bill will now move over to the House for further consideration.
 
SB 1658 (Taylor), relating to the ownership, sale, lease, and disposition of property and management of assets of an open-enrollment charter school, was voted out of the Senate unanimously on 4/24 as substituted and with one adopted amendment. The bill will now move over to the House for further consideration.
 
SB 2065 (Hancock), relating to the licensing and regulation of certain occupations and activities, was voted out of the Senate unanimously on 4/24 as substituted. The bill will now move over to the House for further consideration.
