The 2022 Primary Election will be held today. Due to redistricting, all 181 legislative seats are up for re-election this year. If needed, primary election runoffs will be held on May 24th, 2022. We are anticipating a long evening and we will continue to monitor the results as the night continues. Although polls are scheduled to close at 7 p.m. across the state, anyone in line at that time is still able to cast their vote meaning individual precincts may not close until much later.

Election Day Voting Locations

Residents in counties participating in the Countywide Polling Place Program (CWPP) can vote at any location in their county of residence. Residents in other counties may only vote at the voting precinct assigned to them and may find their voting location using the Secretary of State’s “My Voter Portal.” Election day voting hours are 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at all polling places statewide.

Election Results

Election results will be available through the Secretary of State website. The Secretary of State election night portal provides preliminary results and updates every five minutes until 100% of precincts have reported in. While the majority of results typically are available within hours of polls closing, it can take more time for full results to be reported from all counties.

Voter Registration Data

According to the Secretary of State’s website there are currently 17,183,996 Texans registered to vote. Texas Secretary of State John Scott announced in a press release that “more than 1.6 million Texas voters have already cast a ballot in this year’s primary elections.”
