The Senate Finance Subcommittee on Medicaid met on February 28, March 1 and March 2 with the intent of taking action on Medicaid and CHIP cost containment proposals. Based on subcommittee member feedback the HHSC proposals were broken into 3 charts containing:

1.      items of consensus choices

2.      items for further discussion and consideration; and

3.      items to table and will not be recommended to the full committee.

On March 2, the subcommittee reached consensus on 30 cost containment items to be recommended to the full Finance Committee, representing a total savings of $397 million. They committee will meet again on March 8 at 9 a.m.
