Texas officially sets record for number of votes cast in presidential election – 8.1M votes. Election Day turnout statewide plummeted after record breaking early voting turnout.

Statewide
Republicans swept statewide offices. The six Republican candidates for the Texas Supreme Court and the Court of Criminal Appeals won their bids for the seats.
 
There was one open seat election for the position of Texas Railroad Commissioner which was won by Wayne Christian (R) with 53.2% of the votes*.
*almost 96% of the precincts reporting  
 
U.S. House of Representatives
All Congressional races in Texas were won by incumbents or if it was an open seat, won by the party currently holding the seat.
 
State Board of Education
All incumbents won their seat. The results for the two open seats:
District 1 – Georgina Perez (D) received 83.4% of the vote*
District 9 – Keven M. Ellis (R) received 73.7% of the vote**
*almost 83% of the precincts reporting  
**over 97% of the precincts reporting
 
Texas Senate and House
All incumbents for Texas Senate kept their seats or if it was an open seat, won by the party currently holding the seat.
 
Democrats picked up the following five Texas House Seats:
HD 107:  Kenneth Sheets (R- Inc.) 49.24%, Victoria Neave (D) 50.75%
HD 117:  Rick Galindo (R- Inc.) 48.65%, Philip Cortez (D) 51.34%
HD 118:  John Lujan (R- Inc.) 44.83%, Tomas Uresti (D) 55.16%
HD 120:  Laura Thompson (Ind.- Inc.) 22.34%, Barbara Gervin-Hawkins (D) 77.65%
HD 144:  Gilbert Pena (R- Inc.) 39.75%, Mary Ann Perez (D) 60.24%
