The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) will host an informational meeting on November 19, 2009, on the United States Environmental Agency’s (EPA) request for Texas to provide an attainment designation recommendation for Harris County for the 1997 annual PM2.5 National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS). The meeting will present information on the subject and provide the public an opportunity for discussion. The EPA initiated the redesignation process based on ambient air monitoring data from 2006 through 2008 that indicates one monitor in Harris County is violating the annual PM2.5 NAAQS. The EPA has requested that the state’s recommendation be submitted to the EPA by February 5, 2010 (120 days after receipt of the letter).
The meeting will be held Thursday, November 19, 2009, at 1:00 p.m., at the Alvin D. Baggett Community Center, 1302 Keene Street, Galena Park, Texas 77547. Registration will begin 15 minutes before the meeting. TCEQ staff will be available for questions after the presentation.
