Governor Rick Perry has recently made the following appointments:

 

Scott Haywood of Austin to the Texas Racing Commission for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2015. The commission oversees pari-mutuel wagering on horse and greyhound racing.

 

Lana Myers of Coppell as justice of the Fifth District Court of Appeals for a term to expire at the next general election.

 

Tracy Christopher of Houston as justice of the 14th District Court of Appeals for a term to expire at the next general election.

 

Jimmy Burke of Deer Park to the San Jacinto Historical Advisory Board for a term to expire September 1, 2015. The board advises the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission on the proper historical development of the San Jacinto Battleground.

 

F. Alfonso Charles of Longview to the 124th Judicial District Court of Gregg County for a term to expire at the next general election.

 

Ben Raimer of Galveston chair of the Health Disparities Task Force for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2011. The task force works to close the gap in access to health care among special or underserved populations across Texas.

Ronald DeVere of Austin and Deborah Hanna of Austin to the Texas Council on Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders for terms to expire Aug. 31, 2015. The council facilitates coordination of state services for victims of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.

Carolyn Todd of Georgetown and Amy Woolsey of Cypress to the Rehabilitation Council of Texas. The council works with the Division for Rehabilitation Services and Division for Blind Services to advocate for people with disabilities in the vocational rehabilitation process.

 

Linda S. Foster of Georgetown was reappointed to the Texas Mutual Insurance Company Board of Directors for a term to expire July 1, 2015. The board acts as a competitive force in the workers’ compensation market to guarantee the availability of workers’ compensation in Texas, and acts as the insurer of last resort.

 

Robert “Bob” Shepard of Weatherford was reappointed to the North Texas Tollway Authority Board of Directors for a term to expire Aug. 31, 2011. The board oversees building, maintenance and operations of turnpike projects in North Texas.
