Frank Sturzl will be joining HillCo Partners to head up the municipal practice division.

Veteran Texas Municipal League Boss Joins Team at Powerhouse Austin Lobby Shop HillCo Partners

 

Frank Sturzl – a longtime force in state politics as the Texas Municipal League’s executive director for more than 20 years – has signed on with HillCo Partners as the point person for the long list of cities that the powerful Austin lobby firm represents at the state Capitol.

 

A U.S. Air Force veteran with a masters degree from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas, will head up the municipal practice for the lobby shop that Neal T. “Buddy” Jones and Bill Miller founded in 1998.

 

The enlistment of Sturzl is a major coup for HillCo, which represents more than a dozen Texas cities including Dallas, Fort Worth, Corpus Christi, Abilene, Arlington, Irving and South Padre Island in addition a marquee list of clients in the private sector ranging from Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys to Houston home builder Bob Perry to corporations such as AT&T, HEB and dozens of others.

 

As the top staff official at TML, Sturzl has led a team that watches out for the interests of more than 1,000 Texas cities at the Legislature, state agencies and the court system. Sturzl started out with the municipal association as a research assistant before stints as a policy analyst and assistant director for two years before a promotion to his current post in 1988. He’s been a member of the governing boards for the National National League of Cities, the Southern Municipal Conference, the Texas Civil Justice League and organizations. Sturzl was a nominee for the LBJ School’s Distinguished Public Service Award Nominees three years ago.
