Starting February 1st the Comptroller’s office will provide a press release announcing state revenues and a separate press release announcing allocations. Currently the office releases the allocation totals based on sales made by businesses that report tax monthly as well as the total sales tax revenue for the state at the same time. This change is being done to help provide greater transparency and eliminate confusion regarding state sales tax revenues and local sales tax allocations. Sales tax revenues for the state will be announced at the beginning of each month. Sales tax allocations to local taxing entities will continue to follow the normal allocation calendar.
