Commissioner-elect George P. Bush today announced Rene D. Truan will assume the role of Director of the newly created Permanent School Fund (PSF) Income Division at the Texas General Land Office (GLO). In this expanded role, he will oversee a reorganized income producing division consisting of the Energy Resources, Asset Management and Asset Inspection Divisions.

Truan joined the General Land Office as a college intern and has since built a public service career spanning more than 25 years. Truan is being promoted from his position as Deputy Commissioner of Professional Services & Asset Management where he managed state-wide real estate operations and field services including residential and commercial surface leasing, surveying, appraisal and inspection.

This reorganized division combines the Energy Resources Division with the Asset Management and Asset Inspection Division. These divisions are the revenue generators from land activities for the PSF, a $34 billion fund that supports public schools throughout the state.

The Asset Management & Inspection Division manages much of the state's real property and ensures a consistent revenue stream to the PSF. The Energy Resources Division seeks to benefit the school children and taxpayers of Texas by maximizing revenue and expanding economic opportunities through management of state-owned minerals.
