The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) will host its first Water U! work session in Austin on April 29, 2015. The work session will include presentations from a dozen experts on the ongoing research at four of Texas' major public university systems: Texas A&M University, Texas State University, Texas Tech University, and the University of Texas. 
Topics include:

  • Summary of water activities at Texas A&M University
  • The Texas Water Observatory
  • Drought modeling, atlas, and streamflow simulation
  • Water/energy/food nexus
  • Water research programs at the University of Texas System campuses
  • Water initiatives at the University of Texas at El Paso
  • Water research and expertise at Texas Tech University
  • Research and service at the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment

 
Following the Water U! work session, the TWDB will host a Board meeting to consider authorizing $1,160,400 in grants for agricultural water conservation projects. The Board will also discuss TWDB's outreach efforts, hear an update on Texas drought conditions, and consider financial assistance for two water projects.
