Alaska’s Republican Lisa Murkowski is sponsoring a resolution of disapproval that would block the EPA from regulating greenhouse gas emissions under clean air laws. The resolution has 38 sponsors which include the following three Democrats: Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Chairwoman Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas, Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska, and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana.

The resolution, which is not subject to a filibuster, needs only 51 votes to pass the Senate but would also need U.S. House approval before heading to the President’s desk where it is unlikely he would sign it given the current proposals from the EPA.

However, a resolution of disapproval gaining enough Democratic votes to pass out the Senate could signal waning support this year for the cap-and-trade climate bill.
