On Aug. 9, 2016, TxDOT will hold a public hearing to accept comments for the development of the 2017 Unified Transportation Program (UTP). On July 21 a public meeting was held to discuss the UTP. UTP is TxDOT's 10-year plan to guide transportation development for future construction projects and related activities. The deadline for comments is Aug. 22, 2016, at 4 p.m.
Of note an additional $38.3 billion in funding will be allocated over 10 years as part of the 2017 UTP for fiscal years of 2017-2026.
The proposed distribution of those funds include $6.9 billion for safety and to preserve existing assets of which $2.1 will be for the energy sector; $21.2 for urban congestion/mobility which includes $11.2 for MPO Partnerships, $6.2 for rural connectivity corridors and $4.0 billion for additional strategic priorities.
