Wednesday, September 28
Senate Natural Resources & Economic Development will meet to hear invited testimony on the impact and challenges of implementing proposed EPA regulations including the Clean Power Plan, regional haze standards, ozone standards and more.
 
House Appropriations and House Public Education will hold a joint hearing to consider interim charges related to school finance, ASATR, recapture, and the Cost of Education Index. Invited testimony only. 
 
House Transportation Subcommittee on Long-Term Infrastructure Planning will meet to discuss additional transportation funding mechanisms, transportation reinvestment zones, and other short or long term funding options for transportation infrastructure. Invited testimony only.
 
House Homeland Security & Public Safety will hold a hearing in Brownsville to discuss issues related to border security and operations, and will conduct legislative oversight and review the implementation of recent legislation.
 
Senate and House Select Committees on State Real Property Data Collections, Reporting & Assessment will meet jointly to receive an update from agencies on the status of the report on the statewide strategy that will ensure all real property owned by the state is adequately insured. The committee will also consider the benefits of maintaining a database of all state-owned real property. Invited testimony only. 
 
House Transportation Subcommittee on Contraflow Lanes and Gross Weight Allowances will meet to study TxDOT’s role in responding to natural disasters and to review issues related to designation of oversize and overweight corridors.
 
Thursday, September 29
House Appropriations and House Public Education will hold a joint hearing to consider issues related to school finance including school facilities.
 
House Pensions will meet in Arlington to evaluate investment performance benchmarks used by the state’s pension funds and impacts portfolio diversification and market assumptions have had on investment returns. The committee will consider fee structure and investment strategy for investment classes as well.
 
Senate Select Committee on Property Tax Reform & Relief will meet in Houston to consider the property tax process and the appraisal system and to develop options to reduce the tax burden on property owners.
 
Monday, October 3
Senate Select Committee on Property Tax Reform & Relief will meet in Plano to consider the property tax process and the appraisal system and to develop options to reduce the tax burden on property owners.
 
Tuesday, October 4
Senate Criminal Justice will meet to discuss law enforcement efforts to increase their involvement in communities, dangers to law enforcement and threat assessment, and ways to reduce the number of injuries and deaths to or by law enforcement officers.
 
Wednesday, October 5
Senate State Affairs will meet to consider ethics laws governing public officials and employees. The committee will also review reporting requirements and categories of ethics violations.
 
Senate Business & Commerce will hold a hearing to hear invited testimony only to review occupations licensed under current law to determine their necessity and ensure the safety of the public. The committee will also monitor lawsuits related to hail damage claims and trends that lead to market disruption. Finally, the committee will review the implementation of recent legislation particularly legislation related to TWIA and public insurance adjusters.
 
Joint Interim Committee to Study a Coastal Barrier System will meet to discuss the desirability and feasibility of constructing a coastal barrier system.
