March Labor Market Highlights
Governor Greg Abbott congratulated Texans for adding the most jobs in the nation over the last 12 months based on March 2025 employment data. Texas again hit new highs for total jobs, the number of Texans working, and the size of the Texas labor force.
March employment data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Texas Workforce Commission shows:
• Texas reached a new high with the largest labor force ever in the state’s history at 15,778,500.
• Texas reached a new high for Texans working, including self-employed, at 15,137,500.
• Texas reached a new high for total nonfarm jobs at 14,282,600 after adding 26,500 jobs in March.
• Texas added 192,100 nonfarm jobs from March 2024 to March 2025, more than any other state and growing at a faster rate than the nation as a whole.

Comptroller Distributes $966 Million in Monthly Sales Tax Revenue
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $995.5 million in local sales tax allocations for April, 3.5 percent less than in April 2024. These allocations are based on sales made in February by businesses that report tax monthly.
