House Speaker Dade Phelan announced that his office is forming a series of voluntary working groups to begin working on new and innovative solutions for the following: Budget reform, Childcare accessibility & affordability, Water supply & infrastructure (including nuclear), Support for law enforcement, Veteran services, Healthcare infrastructure & access to care, Housing availability & affordability, and Property & casualty insurance.

In his letter to the members, Speaker Phelan noted the absence of any issue from the list does not indicate it is not a priority while encouraging members to reach out if they have suggestions for additional subjects that may benefit from extra attention in a working group. Speaker Phelan did clarify that the House has already dedicated significant time, research, and debate to a number of issues that remain high priorities.

The optional working groups will be open to current and prospective House members (no staff) and will meet in person at the Capitol starting later this month.
