The State Board of Education (SBOE) process for reviewing the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) calls for multiple, separate working groups. Earlier this month, Work Group A convened to draft social studies recommendations on key topics approved by the SBOE at its January 2026 meeting.
The final version of the Work Group A document, which contains the draft recommendations, can be found on the SBOE website. The draft TEKS are to be presented for discussion to the SBOE at the special-called meeting on February 25 and 26.
Public comments and feedback can be submitted to teks@tea.texas.gov. The deadline to submit comments is February 27 at 5:00 pm.
