Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Senate Business & Commerce Chair Charles Schwertner have called on the Public Utility Commission (PUC) to deny pending applications for 765 kilovolt transmission line projects.
In a letter released by Sen. Schwertner today, he stated that “Testimony from property owners and their representatives highlighted significant concerns regarding the certificate of convenience and necessity process (CCN)” and is “calling on the PUC to deny the existing CCN applications.”
Lt. Gov. Patrick commented in support of Schwertner’s letter, saying “the testimony made it abundantly clear the current process being utilized by the PUC for proposing and approving transmission lines is broken and must be reformed.” Patrick also indicated that this issue would be a priority for the Senate during the 90th Legislative Session.
