The Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) announced that they are launching a Rural Hospital Officers Academy to strengthen rural health care in Texas.
The academy is expected to begin enrolling students in the fall of 2027 and be free to participants. The academy is designed for leaders in the health care industry such as board directors, hospital administrators, and other senior level roles.
House Bill 18 of the 89th Legislature established the academy for continued education and professional development of rural health care professionals. The advisory committee of the academy held its first meeting in July.
