The Center for Digital Government announced the results of its 2026 Digital States Survey on Thursday, September 24. The Digital States Survey is conducted biennially and serves as a national benchmark for state government technology and evaluates how states use technology to strengthen service delivery, advance priorities, and improve government operations.
Texas earned its first A grade in the Digital States Survey in 2024, the highest grade possible in the program. The 2026 result builds on that achievement and reflects continued progress across state government in modernizing technology and delivering more effective digital services to Texans.
“Texas continues to demonstrate what is possible when we approach technology with a clear focus on delivering better government for the people we serve,” said Tony Sauerhoff, State Chief Information Officer and Executive Director of the Texas Department of Information Resources. “Earning an A grade for the second consecutive Digital States Survey reflects the work happening across state government to modernize services and use technology effectively. This recognition belongs to the public entities, technology professionals, and industry partners whose work helps move Texas forward every day.”
