Governor Greg Abbott announced that his 2025 State of the State address will be on Sunday, February 2 at 5:00 PM CT and Nexstar Media Group Inc. television stations across Texas will carry a live telecast. During this time the Governor will announce his “emergency items,” which means lawmakers can take up this issue in the first 60 days of the session. Historically the Governor has provided 5-7 emergency items. During the 86th Session the Governor provided “legislative priorates” in addition to his emergency items.
