TEA has published the following recent letters to school administrators:
- 2025 Alternative Education Accountability (AEA) Registration opens March 24, 2025 (March 20, 2025) – The 2025 AEA registration will open on March 24, 2025, in the Texas Education Agency Login (TEAL) Accountability application and will close on April 4, 2025. In order for a campus to be identified for AEA in 2025, it must meet the criteria detailed in the letter; campuses that meet the criteria have been preregistered as dropout recovery schools (DRS) & districts can remove a campus from the preregistered list by submitting a recession form via TEAL.
- Final 2025 Accelerated Testers Student Listings Now Available (March 20, 2025) – the Final 2025 Accelerated Testers Student Listings and explanatory materials are now available in the Texas Education Agency Login (TEAL) Accountability application.
- Commissioner-Approved K-2 Reading Instruments: Selection and Extension Updates (March 13, 2025) – To ensure districts have maximum time to support implementation, no changes will be made effective the 2025-26 school year. The currently approved Kindergarten-grade 2 reading instruments have been extended through August 31, 2026. Updates to the approved list for the 2026-27 school year will be published later this year.
- Principal Survey to Evaluate Texas Educator Preparation Programs and Evaluation of Educator Preparation Programs by Teachers (March 13, 2025) – TEA will be collecting data regarding the preparation of first-year teachers to help understand and provide resources and supports to EPPs. Teachers will receive a link to the Evaluation of Educator Preparation Programs by Teachers via email at the email address they have provided in the Educator Certification Online System (ECOS).
