House Speaker Dustin Burrows gaveled the House in for the 89th 2nd Called Special Session at noon on Friday, August 15. Speaker Burrows also announced that the first 35 House bill numbers were being reserved for priority legislation, including HB 1 (Darby), relating to resident youth camp emergency plans and preparedness, and HB 25 (Shofner), allowing over-the-counter purchases of ivermectin. Quorum was not present on Friday, but is expected on Monday, August 18.

On Friday, the Senate referred multiple bills to both the Committee on Finance and the Committee on State Affairs. Both committees met following the adjournment of the full Senate.

On Sunday, the Senate Special Committee on Redistricting voted out SB 4.

The House is scheduled to reconvene at noon on Monday, August 18, while the Senate is scheduled to reconvene at 5 pm on Monday, August 18.
