Water Conditions

The latest map according to the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB), for conditions as of August 19, doesn’t show any expansion of drought from the previous week. But in the last few weeks, abnormally dry conditions—which could transition into drought soon—have expanded along the coast and developed in the Panhandle and North and East Texas.

U.S. Seasonal Drought Outlook

The latest seasonal drought outlook through the end of November anticipates drought expansion in West Texas and the southern Panhandle. La Niña conditions are expected to develop during the fall and early winter, contributing to drier and hotter than normal conditions for Texas.
