The Texas Tribune reports that State Rep. Phil King, R-Weatherford, announced Friday that he has filed paperwork to run to be the next speaker of the Texas House. Currently, the Texas Ethics Commission shows House Speaker Joe Straus has declared candidacy for the 86th Session.
