Governor Greg Abbott today appointed Aaron Kinsey of Midland (SBOE District 15) as Chair of the State Board of Education for a term set to expire on December 17, 2025. Kinsey was first elected to serve on the SBOE November 8, 2022. He will succeed Dr. Keven Ellis, who has served as Chair since he was appointed in 2019 by the Governor but is term limited. Ellis will continue to serve on the SBOE.
Kinsey is CEO of American Patrols, Inc., an aviation oilfield services company, and also a member of the Texas Permanent School Fund Corporation Committee on School Finance/Permanent School Fund.
