Gov. Rick Perry has appointed three members to the Health and Human Services Council for terms to expire Feb. 1, 2017. The council assists in developing policies and rules for the Health and Human Services Commission, as well as making recommendations regarding management and operation of the commission.

  • Kathleen Angel of Austin is executive director of global benefits and mobility for Dell Inc. and was reappointed.
  • Maryann Choi of Georgetown is chief medical officer of Harden Healthcare and an assistant professor at the Texas A&M University Health Science Center and was reappointed.
  • Karen Harris of Lakehills is founder and CEO of Medicine for the Heart Ministries Inc. and was appointed.

Gov. Rick Perry has reappointed Kirk Aquilla Calhoun of Tyler and David Woolweaver of Harlingen to the State Health Services Council for terms to expire Feb. 1, 2017. The council makes recommendations to the Department of State Health Services regarding the management, operation, policies and rules for public health, mental health and substance abuse.

These appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
