Governor Rick Perry has set Tuesday, December 14, 2010, as the special election date to fill the House District 44 seat vacated by the passing of Rep. Edmund Kuempel. House District 44 includes Gonzales, Guadalupe and Wilson counties.
The early voting period for this special election begins Monday, November 29, 2010, and ends Friday, December 10, 2010.
The state representative elected in this special election will serve out the remainder of Rep. Kuempel’s unexpired term.
