The Waco Tribune-Herald reports this morning that Texas Senate Natural Resources Chairman Kip Averitt, R-Waco, says he is ending his re-election bid, citing health reasons. It’s unclear whether he can get off the ballot, but even if he can’t, his decision leaves Burleson insurance agent Darren Yancy as the only active Republican in the primary, and there is no Democrat running.
