Governor Greg Abbott announced through a proclamation that the special election for the Texas Senate District 4 seat will occur Saturday, May 2, 2026. The seat was recently vacated by Senator Brandon Creighton.
To have a name placed on the ballot, candidates must file their applications no later than 5:00 PM on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 with the Secretary of State.
Early voting will begin Monday, April 20, 2026.
