The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has announced the availability of grant funds in Cycle 2 of the 2025-2026 Phone Free Schools Grant Program. The grant program is open to school districts or open-enrollment charters. Eligible applicants for this program are those who did not receive and accept an award via eGrants for the first cycle of the 2025-2026 Phone Free Schools Grant Program.
TEA is utilizing the remaining funds from the funding for SB 1 Sec. 18.16. Contingency for House Bill 1481 ($2,388,037) in state grant funding to help school systems to comply with HB 1481. This funding is intended to help school systems purchase secure storage solutions and implement the infrastructure necessary to enforce the personal communication device ban.
The grant period is open from March 11 through August 31, 2026. A total of roughly $2,388,037 is available for this grant program. Applications must be received by TEA by 11:59 p.m. on February 18, 2026, to be considered for funding.
The Request for Application is available on the TEA Grant Opportunities Page. The full communication from TEA can be found here.
