The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) Board of Directors has voted to select Tony Sauerhoff as their new Executive Director and State of Texas Chief Information Officer. Sauerhoff had previously been serving in the position in an interim capacity.

In this role, Sauerhoff will oversee statewide technology strategy and support Texas’ public sector through shared technology services, technology procurement and contracting resources, and technology direction and guidance. Per Texas Government Code Section 2054.0285, DIR’s Executive Director is designated as the Chief Information Officer for the State of Texas.

Sauerhoff previously served as DIR’s Chief Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Officer, State Chief Information Security Officer, DIR’s Deputy Chief Information Security Officer, and State Cybersecurity Coordinator, and he currently serves as President of the GovRAMP Board of Directors.
