Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Chairman Jon Niermann has announced that the commission appointed Mary Smith General Counsel, effective Jan. 1, 2019. The announcement came following a closed session of the commission on Dec. 6. Smith currently serves as an Assistant Attorney General with the Office of the Attorney General and has previously represented and advised the TCEQ, the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, General Land Office, and Railroad Commission in enforcement and other actions.
