With over 50% of the vote, Representative Carol Alvarado has defeated challengers in the special election for Texas’ Senate District 6, left vacant after Senator Sylvia Garcia’s election to Congress in November. Alvarado will now fill out the remainder of the term for SD 6 until it expires in 2020. A special election is expected to be called to fill Rep. Alvarado’s former seat, Texas House District 145.
