Governor Greg Abbott has announced Dr. Courtney Phillips as the new Executive Commissioner of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). She will assume the role of Executive Commissioner at HHSC effective October 19, 2018. Dr. Phillips currently serves as Chief Executive Officer for the Department of Health and Human Services in Nebraska with responsibility for the divisions of Behavioral Health, Children and Family Services, Developmental Disabilities, Medicaid and Long-Term Care, and Public Health, as well as agency operations. Prior to serving as CEO of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Dr. Phillips was a life-long resident of Louisiana and served as the Deputy Secretary for the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals.
