In what appears to be his desire to have the Texas House ready to work as soon as possible during the 86th Session, Rep. Dennis Bonnen (R-Angleton) has named several people who will be filling various roles.
Brian McCall will serve as Chairman of his Speaker Transition Team as he works on the recruitment of the next Speaker’s staff and planning for the 86th Session. Brian McCall is chancellor of the Texas State University System and previously served in the Texas House of Representatives.
Gavin Massingill will serve as Chief of Staff. Massingill, who has more than 20 years of legislative experience inside and outside the Capitol will assume his role January 8, 2019. In the meantime, Massingill will serve in an advisory capacity assisting the Transition Team.
Shera Eichler will serve as Director of the Office of the Speaker. Eichler has served as Bonnen’s Chief of Staff for HD 25 for the last 16 years. She will assume her new role January 8, 2019 and until then will serve in an advisory capacity assisting the Transition Team.
Gardner Pate was named Director of Policy and General Counsel.
Has appointed a bipartisan 10-member panel to identify candidates for House parliamentarian. The co-chairs are Rep. Four Price (R) and Rep. Joe Moody (D).
