On June 5, the Texas Commission on Public School Finance met and discussed English language learners, regulatory inefficiencies in public education, and educator supports. Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath presented on teacher compensation and a explained the concept of providing flexibility to use tiered certification and distinctions to provide a systemic incentive. This plan was discussed during the last legislative session.

Additionally, the Revenues and Expenditures working groups met on June 5 and June 6, respectively. The Revenues workgroup reviewed their next steps to gather revenue suggestions and provide them to TEA to be scored. The suggestions and the results of the TEA scoring will be discussed further, with Chair Paul Bettencourt cautioning that the discussions could take one or two months to conclude.
