Railroad Commissioner Ryan Sitton was the only one statewide, legislative or congressional incumbent defeated in the primaries.
President Donald Trump received 94% (1,755,255) of the Republican primary vote. Joe Biden received 32.4% of the vote (535,952) over Bernie Sanders who captured 29.7% of the vote (491,468).

Congressional Open Seat Races
- CD11: Republican August Pfluger (52%) appears to have won the 10-candidate race outright and will face Democrat Jon Mark Hogg in the November General Election.
- CD13: Republicans Josh Winegarner (38.9%) and Ronny Jackson (19.8%) advanced to the runoff and Democrats Gus Trujillo (42.2%) and Greg Sagan (34.7%) will advance to runoffs.
- CD17: Republicans Former U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions (31.6%) and Renée Swann (19%) advanced to the runoff and Democrats Rick Kennedy (48.6%) and David Anthony Jaramillo (34.2%) will advance to runoffs.
- CD22: Republicans Troy Nehls (40.5%) and Kathaleen Wall (19.4%) will advance to the runoff and the winner will face Democrat Sri Preston Kulkarni in the November General Election.
- CD23: Republicans Tony Gonzales II (28.1%) and Raul Reyes (23.3%) will advance to the runoff and the winner will face Democrat Gina Ortiz Jones in the November General Election.
- CD24: Republican Beth Van Duyne won the Republican primary outright with 64.3% of the vote and will face the winner of the Democratic runoff between Kim Olson (39.1%) and Candace Venezuela (32.2%).
U.S. Senate
Democrat – The winner of the runoff between Mary “MJ” Hegar (23.2%) and Cristina Tzintzun (13.9%) will face Republican incumbent John Cornyn (76.4%) in the November General Election.
Railroad Commissioner (RRC)
Republican – James “Jim” Wright captured 55.9% of the vote over incumbent Ryan Sitton (44.08%) and will go on to face the winner of the Democrat runoff between Chrysta Castaneda (34.4%) and (28.6%).
State Board of Education – District 5
Republican – Robert Morrow (40.1%) and Lani Popp (33.9%) will be in a runoff and the winner will face Democrat Rebecca Bell-Metereau during the November General Election.
State Board of Education – District 6
Democrat – Michelle Palmer (47%) and Kimberly McLeod (33.7%) will be in a runoff and the winner will face Republican Will Hickman (100%) during the November General Election.
